Dr. Lara Devgan Medical Buccal fat pad excision

Buccal fat pad excision is a 20 minute procedure that slims and refines chubby cheeks. There are no visible scars, and this procedure is done awake with numbing medicine. Aesthetic and surgical judgment are needed to ensure that an appropriate amount of fat is removed to improve facial attractiveness without overly skeletonizing the face. This is my favorite moment of the case when the fat pad hatches out πŸ£πŸ‘ΆπŸ» . #insidethebrainofaplasticsurgeon .

6 weeks after breast lift πŸ’ŽπŸ’ŽπŸ’Ž This beautiful patient wanted to preserve her breast volume but improve her breast perkiness, shape, and areolar size. Scars take a year to fully mature, and hers will fade in time. πŸ’ŽπŸ’ŽπŸ’Ž .

While I feel incredibly fortunate to have found my calling as a plastic surgeon, every day I am challenged by my job. Every patient, every procedure, every surgery, every injection, every diagnosis, every analysis, every measurement, every millimeter— every aspect of my job requires me to be my best, to perform at my highest, and to fully commit to the anatomy, outcome, and emotional well-being of the person in front of me. πŸ’ŽπŸ’ŽπŸ’Ž My work hinges on precision. My patients trust me with not only their beauty, but also with their normal function, their self-image, their confidence, and their ability to look at themselves in the mirror and feel good. Truly, it is a tremendous responsibility. Even for procedures I have done a thousand times, every day I re-focus and review. Every day I stay humble in front of my surgical instruments and the complexities of the human body. Every day I pick up the scalpel with an homage to the thousands of great surgeons who came before me and to all that they did to allow me to become who I am today. πŸ’ŽπŸ’ŽπŸ’Ž The hardest part of being a plastic surgeon is helping others feel like the best versions of themselves without making them feel inadequate, and reminding them that plastic surgery is about an improvement over baseline, not a shortfall from perfection— even while I myself strive for perfection. πŸ’ŽπŸ’ŽπŸ’Ž The backbone of a surgeon is effort, grit, character, and determination; the willingness to do the right thing even when it is the hard thing; the ability to constantly self-assess and self-improve; the drive to be compassionate and to be the best; the ethics to stay above the fray even when others don’t. πŸ’ŽπŸ’ŽπŸ’Ž Every week I mentor students and healthcare professionals, and I always do my best to convey a simple message to them: I love what I do, and anything worth loving is worth working hard for. πŸ’ŽπŸ’ŽπŸ’Ž #doctor #surgeon #medicine #medstudent

This is a good example of how a voluptuous lip can be built with a single syringe of filler. More dramatic transformations are certainly possible, but in most cases I recommend 1-2 syringes of filler in any given session. A senior plastic surgeon I admire, Dr. Mulliken at Harvard, once told me that plastic surgery is a battle between beauty and blood supply. We must always be cognizant of tissue distensibility and vascularity, even with cosmetic procedures. πŸ’‹πŸ’‹πŸ’‹ .
