First off, 🙄 plastic and reconstructive surgery is actually one of the most academically rigorous, technically challenging, and highly competitive fields in medicine. Second, plastic surgery in its purest form is about empowering beauty and self-confidence. It acknowledges the fundamental human desire to present our best selves to the world, and it allows those of us who are self-conscious or privately inhibited to feel unencumbered.
