HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR LIPS LOOKING NATURAL? Lip augmentation is one of the most popular cosmetic interventions in the world, but it’s one that patients worry about a lot as well. Many people are concerned about “duck lips,” “trout pout,” or “sausage lips.” Careful injection technique and appropriate selection of products can keep the lips looking very natural but slightly plumped. 👄👄👄 Lips peak in volume at age 14-18; they slowly shrink after that. To keep your looks as hydrated and volumized as your teen years requires intervention. The biggest misconception about lip fillers is that they have to be obvious. 👄👄👄 Lip augmentation is typically performed with a Hyaluronic acid based filler— made from a sugar molecule derived from the body’s collagen. There are many different kinds of fillers that can be used for the lips, depending on patient anatomy, goals, and expectations. 👄👄👄 It is normal and expected for patients to have swelling after lip augmentation; this can take 2-3 weeks to fully resolve, although most swelling goes away in the first few days. There is no major downtime associated with lip augmentation, and many patients go right back to work, but 1 in 20 patients will get a bruise. One syringe is typically a conservative result, and dramatic lip looks may require multiple syringes spaced out every couple of weeks.
