One of my biggest pet peeves is the way people shame each other for having cosmetic procedures— and in the name of feminism, no less. Cosmetic enhancements are a continuum, and the slope from mascara to hair color to Botox to surgery is a slippery one. It’s far more feminist to allow other women to make personal choices about their bodies than to preach about what is “real” and what is “fake.” You can be a woman of substance and care about your appearance, and you don’t owe an explanation about your tastes and preferences to anyone.
