I’ve been a long-time fan of microneedling, but this treatment takes microneedling to the next level. WHEN WILL YOU FEEL BACK TO NORMAL AFTER BREAST AUGMENTATION? Breast augmentation is the most commonly performed plastic surgical procedure in the world, with over 300,000 American women choosing to get breast implants every year. Surgery takes about 30 minutes, although I never rush, and some operations can take longer if needed. Most women take 3-7 days off after surgery. I use a 3-day nerve block to keep patients comfortable. I recommend no strenuous exercise for 4-6 weeks after surgery, although light activities are possible after 2 weeks. I do not routinely suggest massage, straps, or bands for my patients, and I advise against an underwire bra for 6 weeks. Most patients feel back to normal around a month after surgery. It takes 3-6 months for implants to fully settle into their final position. Scars take a year to mature. HOW DO YOU CONTOUR WITH FILLERS? Subtle facial contouring is one of my favorite things to do with injectable fillers. By judiciously augmenting the jawline, cheekbones, and even chin in some cases, I am able to help the face look slimmer and more sculpted. Fillers like these can last anywhere between 1 and 3 years, depending on the type and amount of products used. Most fillers are fully dissolvable with an injection that can make them go away, if you want to have a “plan b” just in case. In my opinion, the best fillers are subtle, where it’s difficult to pinpoint exactly what has been done. For older patients, these techniques can soften midface descent and jowling. For younger patients, they can be used to make millimeter-level optimizations to the features. WHAT IS BOTOX? Botox (and similar wrinkle smoothers like Xeomin and Dysport) soften the action of facial muscles in order to smooth the skin. Botox takes a few minutes and lasts for 3 months, starting out stronger and fading gradually. There is typically no downtime, although bruising and swelling are possible immediately after injection. It takes 4-7 days for Botox to fully kick in. It works in a dose-dependent fashion, so it is about half strength 1.5 months after injection and back to baseline at 3 months— similar to the way roots gradually grow back after getting your hair colored. You are not obligated to continue to use Botox once you start, although most patients like it and choose to. 💉💉💉 Botox is relatively comfortable, and numbing cream and vibratory devices can be used to make the experience easier. Botox can be customized to your desires, with natural movement or total smoothness or anywhere in between possible. Everyone’s facial muscles are different, and an injector is assessing your deep muscular anatomy based on your surface features, so there is an inherent need to work with your provider to get your desired result. The goal is to get your Botox exactly perfect the first time you do it, but occasionally a patient will require a touch up in the first 2 weeks to make sure his or her result is optimal. 💉💉💉 The best way to get the most out of your Botox is to try to train yourself to minimize use of the muscles that are causing your wrinkles. 💉💉💉 Comment below ⤵️ with your questions about Botox, and I will answer as many as I can. 💉💉💉 .
