Liposuction is a method of removing stubborn pockets of fat to smooth and slim the tissues. I have decided to follow the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons recommendation to stop performing Brazilian Buttock Lift (BBL). 🛑🛑🛑 Though I am New York based and not required to follow this suggestion, I am alarmed by the 1 in 3000 risk of death from fat transfer to the buttocks. As both a board-certified plastic surgeon and a private individual, it concerns me greatly that a voluntary cosmetic procedure like BBL is this dangerous. While intelligent people disagree on this topic, and every procedure we perform does have risks, BBL is by far the deadliest procedure in plastic surgery. 💉 Nonsurgical buttock augmentation with poly-L lactic acid, as shown here, is my preferred technique for improving the contour of the buttocks and hips. This approach is slower, more expensive, and more subtle than BBL, but it is far safer, and it achieves customizable and predicable results. What do you think about this controversial topic?
