HOW LONG WILL MY LIPS BE SWOLLEN? 🐝🐝🐝 There is some swelling inherent to any injectable. Lips are usually about 25% swollen right after the procedure. Swelling peaks in the first several days, and by the time you are 5 days out, almost all of it is gone. Occasionally swelling can last 2-3 weeks. Very rarely, about 1% of the time, someone will have severe swelling. About 1 in 20 patients will get a bruise. 👄👄👄 In order to reduce the risk of swelling and bruising from lip fillers, avoid alcohol, blood thinners, and salty food for 1-3 days before and after. Ice consistently after injection. Be patient when you feel the lips look big right after injection. Ask if you are a candidate for a prescription to bring down swelling if you have a special event. Understand that any medical procedure, including a minor one such as this, is still real medicine, and involves the avoidance of tissue injury and necrosis. 👄👄👄 A good injector will make a best effort to achieve your goals and optimize symmetry and aesthetics, but no one is able to guarantee an aesthetic outcome of any kind. Lumps or irregularity in filler can be corrected with massage, addition, or subtraction of filler.
