Patient #2 from yesterday’s live injection demonstration at @skinofcolorseminars. This beautiful patient is a 79 year old dermatologist of Chinese heritage who wanted a very conservative change as this was her first time having any type of cosmetic intervention. We focused on her mouth area, which I will show in close up in a second post. Here, I used Restylane Lyft for her cheekbones, Resylane Silk with a cannula technique for her lips, and Restylane Defyne for her marionette lines and perioral tissues. The patient’s personal goal was subtlety, so while facelift, necklift, blepharoplasty, and 8-10 additional syringes of filler could be options for other patients with similar anatomy, she was thrilled with a minimal change. 💉 .

I used a combination of Dysport, Restylane Lyft, and Restylane Refyne to define her cheekbones, add subtle shadowing to her cheek sulcus, improve her jawline, and soften her nasolabial folds. #devganglowup 💉💉💉 .

My podium lecture and live demonstration session from tonight’s Skin of Color Conference. Skin of Color is an important meeting for plastic surgeons and dermatologists because society is comprised of such diversity that “textbook” ideals of Caucasian beauty are not applicable to all patients. This week alone I saw patients who travelled from Hong Kong, France, Croatia, Morocco, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, United Kingdom, Egypt, India, China, Argentina, and Mexico— and each one of them had different tissue types, aesthetic concerns, and desired goals. I love that societal beauty standards are broadening, and that the academic conversation about how to address these variances is becoming ever more sophisticated.
